Conventional suburban developments are typically characterized by similarly-size and similarly-priced homes removed from commercial areas.  Traditional neighbohood developments, on the other hand, combine a variety of home styles and mix in retail and cultural attractions (the idea being that residents can satisfy most of their needs within walking distance).
